Indigo Acres offers peaceful, heart-centered cow cuddling experiences near Omaha, Nebraska, on a small acreage, located just outside of Yutan. Our gentle Highland cows provide a calming space for grounding, emotional reset, and a meaningful animal connection. Ideal for stress relief, mindfulness, and wellness retreats, it's perfect for anyone seeking a soft place to land in nature. Conveniently located for residents of Omaha, Elkhorn, Gretna, Bennington, and the surrounding eastern Nebraska area. However, we have welcomed guests from all over the world already!

Not every peaceful moment with the Highland cows happens under blue skies — some of the most heart-melting experiences occur on soft, rainy afternoons inside the barn. When the rain begins to fall, we gather under the roof with our beloved Highlands, settling into the straw as the sound of raindrops patters gently overhead. The air feels slower, quieter, and more intimate — creating a cozy little world all its own, perfect for cow cuddling near Omaha.
The cows seem to sense this tranquility too. They breathe deeper, rest their big fluffy heads a little heavier, and lean into the stillness with you. There’s no rush, no schedule, no expectations — just soft fur, a steady presence, and the rhythm of their calm heartbeat beside you. You can hear the rain, feel the warmth of their body next to yours, and experience that grounding moment where the outside world simply… disappears.
Inside the barn, time feels softer, comfort becomes easier, and a peaceful animal connection often happens in the simplest way — a quiet moment shared between souls, held gently by the sound of rain.
When the weather is kind and the pasture is open, we head out into the field where the Highland cows are most themselves — roaming, grazing, and choosing connection in the quiet, gentle way they do best. Out in the open space, you get to experience these peaceful animals in their natural rhythm: slow steps through the grass, soft snuffles as they graze, and the comforting feeling of being welcomed into their world rather than simply visiting it.
The field gives you room to breathe differently — deeper, easier, and closer to the rhythm of nature. You can sit in the grass beside them, brush their long coats as they relax into your touch, or simply share stillness while they chew contentedly. Sometimes they wander over to lean their warm shoulder against you; other times they lay down nearby and invite you to settle in beside them.
Out here, connection unfolds gently and at their pace — not forced, not rushed, just honest and present. It’s a grounding space where worries soften, time stretches a little wider, and you’re reminded what it feels like to simply be. For those seeking cow cuddling near Omaha, this is a perfect opportunity to experience that serene bond.
A gentle, no-pressure way to meet Willow & Wally awaits you at Highland Hellos at the Fence. This peaceful animal connection offers a heartwarming way to interact with our Highland cows, perfect for guests who feel more comfortable with a little space, prefer a softer introduction, or simply enjoy quiet moments from the other side of the fence.
During this 1-hour experience, you’ll meet Willow and Wally from the comfort of the fence line while a handler is nearby to guide the interaction. Guests are welcome to pet the cows through the fence, offer gentle brushes when the cows approach, take photos, or simply enjoy their calming presence at their own pace. These sessions are designed with comfort and inclusivity in mind, making them a wonderful option for:
- Guests who feel shy or intimidated
- Individuals with sensory sensitivities
- Those who may have unpredictable responses or need a controlled setting
- Young children easing into animal interactions
- Anyone craving a peaceful, grounded moment without stepping into the field
Highland Hellos moves entirely at the cows’ pace. Some days, Willow and Wally stroll right over for rubs and soft greetings; other days, they offer slower, quieter companionship. We honor whatever they choose, ensuring their comfort and safety guide every moment.
This offering is a beautiful way to experience the gentle magic of cow cuddling near Omaha — soft breaths, fluffy fringes, and the kind of easy, grounding connection that stays with you long after you leave. It’s a simple, heartfelt moment of meeting the cows exactly where they are.
(12 and under are required to stay on the outside of the fence.)

The Gentle Observer
Wally is the quiet heart of Indigo Acres. With his soft eyes, fluffy coat, and calm demeanor, he has a way of making visitors instantly feel at ease. Wally enjoys slow moments — standing close by while guests brush his coat, quietly observing the pasture, or accepting a gentle scratch behind the ears.
He’s often the first to welcome visitors and the last to wander away, making him a favorite for guests who enjoy peaceful, unhurried interactions. Wally reminds us that sometimes the most meaningful connections happen in the quietest moments.
Favorite things:
• Being brushed
• Quiet company
• Slow pasture strolls

The Mother Hen of the Herd
Willow has a naturally nurturing spirit and often takes on the role of caretaker in the pasture. Although she isn’t Walter’s mother, she keeps a gentle watch over him like a proud big sister or “mother hen,” always nearby as he explores the world around him.
She has a sweet and affectionate personality and enjoys meeting new visitors, especially when they come with soft voices and gentle hands. Willow’s calm attentiveness and loving nature make her a favorite among guests who appreciate her warm and welcoming presence.
Favorite things:
• Keeping an eye on Walter
• Gentle pets and attention
• Being part of every visit

The Curious Sweetheart
Walter may be the tiniest member of the Indigo Acres herd, but he makes up for it with curiosity and charm. As a micro Highland, he’s small in size but full of personality. Walter loves exploring the pasture, discovering new things, and greeting visitors with his sweet and inquisitive nature.
You’ll often find him venturing out to investigate while Willow keeps a watchful eye nearby. His playful curiosity and gentle temperament make him incredibly endearing — and many visitors quickly fall in love with his tiny stature and big heart.

• Exploring the pasture
• Meeting new friends
• Following Willow and Wally
